I don't know if I have five tips, but this is what I’ve done. The growth on the vscodetips Twitter account has been steady, but slow.
As I mentioned in my Why I created the VSCodeTips community post, I started the Twitter account four years ago and it's grown to just over 5000 followers over that period of time. For the first year I think the account had less than 200 followers.
In my My 2019 Year in Review post, I talked about the vscodetips Twitter follower count going up by ~2000 followers to hit the 3500 mark. There was more growth that year, but I think this was an effect of more folks being aware of the account.
And since that time up until now, we've gained just over 1500 more followers.
The only thing I've really done is continuously engage with my audience and reTweet or post Tweets that I think are useful. I've avoided any kind of tactics to just get followers because I want the people I engage with to stay.
I don't know if this advice is helpful or not, but that is what has worked for me.
Congrats, @nickytonline 🎉
