Feature request: remove yourself from an org

Hi there,
I no longer contract with a certain org on DEV. I tried removing myself but I can't -- I've been told I need to ask the org to remove me. I think it'd be a good idea to have a feature that allows a user to remove themselves.

I believe I know the issue that you're facing!

You are likely an org admin (not a member) and currently you must be a member in order to remove yourself from the org like in @ben 's screenshot. That said, admin cannot revoke their own admin status in an org... they must have another admin do this.

While this seems a bit short-sighted, I think the goal here was to make it so that a user doesn't create an org and leave it admin-less. I think that generally makes sense, but if there is another admin in the org, then I believe you should be able to revoke your own admin status, which currently you can't do. If you were able to revoke your own status and make yourself a member, then you would be able to remove yourself from the org.

For now, please do take @ellativity 's advice and write into yo@dev.to to let us know which orgs on DEV you're having difficulty removing yourself from and we'll be happy to help out.

In the meantime, I'll write up an issue on this to see if we can make some improvements to this whole process!

Hey @cerchie - we'd love to help you troubleshoot this situation, as it's not typically how we would expect an org on a Forem to function.

Would you be able to send screenshots of what you're experiencing to yo@dev.to so that we can take a closer look, please?

Hmmm this is available to me. But maybe I'm missing something about the context here?

For sure. You havent even read what @cerchie wrote, not to mention that you simply do not understand her problem.
