Addition of short comment with vomit flag?

I think it might be helpful to add an optional short text field to add a reason when vomit flagging a post as a trusted user.

There are posts periodically where I feel like I should flag it, but I'm not confident that the post is breaking the rules and would like to add a 1 line why I'm flagging. I'm not sure if the admins can see who flagged the post, but I imagine it would be helpful in a scenario like this:

  • I flag post with the comment Should giveaways be listings?
  • Admin sees comment and can respond to me with either "yes they should be" or "no, these posts are fine"

If you're a trusted user, would you find this helpful?

Thanks for the question @terabytetiger - I think this is gonna be answerable on a case-by-case basis so by no means take my word for it!

As an admin, I generally can tell why someone has vomited on a post or comment. In my experience, people with more to say tend to use the Report feature, so I appreciate having a quick-and-dirty option for someone to flag content without needing to fill out further information. (Edited to say "flag content" rather than "report content")

Maybe I'm missing something then - where did the regular report option go? πŸ˜…

The ... you see either on the top-right of a comment or underneath the reaction icons on post displayed a desktop/to the right of the reaction icons on a post displayed on mobile should list the option to "report abuse" and submit a report with a free text box. Lmk if you don't see that and I'll do more digging.

Oh, I see it now! I was looking in the mod tools popout :)

I totally get that confusion! The full reporting tool is available to all registered members of a Forem, whereas the vomit button is part of the trusted user toolkit and is accessed via moderator panel as you discovered.

I probably should have made that clearer at the time, but happy you beat me to it!
