Forem is already a community platform. I think the best way of getting help with Forem is using Forem.
For now, I don't suggest installing Forem on your own VDS. You might encounter some stability problems or requirement errors. It might be challenging to maintain it on a different server system other than DigitalOcean, Google Cloud, or Amazon AWS.
Why don't you prefer these cloud systems?
