Creativity in today's design

I have great strong passion on being a successful designer, but how? Mostly, people who live in isolated areas faces different challenges. For example, our people don't engage themselves in modern activities regarding design, they always prefer traditional ways of communication.
What can a designer do to keep his career and also survive as he loves his job? The only answer I always provide to myself is to migrate into digital world where all your thought is transfered as signal and pay you for your service.
