It's so great that you're all creating Forems for your own use cases! I thought it'd be a great idea if the Community team created a few tutorials for users that may not be familiar with Forem communities.
Creating an Account
Creating an account on a Forem is pretty straightforward, however, there are different ways to do this.
Upon visiting a public Forem, like forem.dev, the user will be able to browse content, see users, and share content. A private Forem will prompt them to sign in, or sign up, to continue.
In our case we want to click "Create account" in the top right.
Forem Dev allows users to sign up with three different methods.
- GitHub
OAuth options, like GitHub and Twitter, are the easiest ways to sign up as you're authenticated and confirmed as soon as you complete the authorization check from either provider. Email requires you to confirm your email address with Forems SMTP options, ensure that you've set this up in your Admin > Config
After you've filled in all of your information and signed up - you'll need to confirm your email address.
There are 5 steps in the onboarding and they're quite simple! All settings and preferences you make here will be able to be changed at a later date.
Editing Your Profile
In order to edit your profile, you'll hover your house over your profile picture and select "Settings"
From here, all changes you make you must click "Save Profile Information" and voila! You've successfully signed up and edited your profile.
